Aldi wines: Best seasonal buys

From great-value sparkling wines, exciting under-the-radar grape varieties, and crisp whites and rosés perfect for picnics, garden parties and alfresco dining, Tina Gellie selects the best buys from Aldi's spring/summer range.

Supermarket Aldi showcased 94 sparkling and still wines in its 2025 UK spring/summer collection, 51 of them new.

With prices starting from £4.19 for the non-vintage Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot under the Estevez label from Chile, to £19.99 for the 2017 claret from Château La Garde in Pessac-Léognan, the focus of this German supermarket chain is on affordable quality.

As with all UK supermarket buyers, Josh Heley (still wines) and Lucy Pemberton (sparkling, fortified and no-/low-alcohol wines), have the difficult task of delivering a versatile offer amid rising inflation, interest rates and general cost of living.
